~ SCORE ANOTHER 5 - 10 MARKS MORE! ~

Remember these few pointers & you'll EASILY score another EXTRA 5 - 10 marks or more.

1) You are sitting for a SCIENCE PAPER NOT an English Comprehension paper!

After answering the basic question, you have to follow-up with the SCIENCE CONCEPT.

SCIENCE PAPER is testing you on the SCIENCE CONCEPTS!

NO SCIENCE CONCEPTS = NO MARKS!

E.g.
Describe...
Explain why...
Suggest a reason why...
Explain how...
Give a reason for your answer...
Explain your answer....
etc.

You NEED to put in your keywords / key concepts of the topic for all the above type of questions!

2) You need to know that QUESTIONS CAN ALWAYS CHANGE....

BUT....

SCIENCE CONCEPT DOES NOT CHANGE!

The ANSWER will definitely be something which you've LEARNT BEFORE / WRITTEN BEFORE !

Use your R.I.P to identify the Chapter --> Topic --> Science Concept being tested

...and you'll know your ANSWER!

3) Remember that a question may have 2 or 3 parts:  41a, 41b, 41c

DO NOT SOLVE THEM SEPARATELY!

They are 95% of the time INTER-RELATED!

ALL from either SAME CHAPTER / SAME TOPIC / SAME CONCEPT or continuation of the previous part!

4) BE SPECIFIC !!!!!!!

Water inside the basin / Water inside the beaker....

Water level of the beaker / Water level in the basin)

Surrounding air in the flask / surrounding air outside the flask

When your water / water level / air / etc. IS UNCLEAR, EXAMINER HAS TO GUESS WHICH water level / air /water you're referring to.....it's a STRAIGHT ZERO.

5) LASTLY, Use the TERMS provided IN THE QUESTION!

STOP USING YOUR OWN HORRIBLE ENGLISH WORDS !!!

HIGHLIGHT / UNDERLINE / CIRCLE !!!

WHEN THE ABOVE ARE DONE RIGHT, YOU CAN EASILY GET BACK ALL YOUR MARKS!

A* for the TOP 10!!!

85 and above for most of you !!!

....75 and above for some of you!!!

!!! EASILY !!!

~ SCIENCE NOTES! ~

DO YOU KNOW THESE?

IF NOT READ, UNDERSTAND & ABSORB! =)

SCIENCE ANSWERS / KNOWLEDGE which you should know:

1) Flower X did not bear fruit because it does not have stigma thus it cannot receive the pollen grains, resulting in the egg cell not being fertilised.

2) The xylem / water-carryign tubes is damaged thus water could not be transported to the leaves,....*CONTINUE EXPLAINING*.... the leave in the branch could not photosynthesise to make food and died.

3) They concluded that the greater their masses, the faster their hear rates while runing.

4) Explain how a faster heart rate helps to provide a greater amount of energy:

The heart beats faster to pump more oxygenated blood around the body so that respiration can take place faster.

5) Give a reason why Lucas kept Plant A in the cupboard before the start of his experiment:

He wanted to remove the starch that is present in the leaves.

6) Sponge has many holes which are filled with air.

    When a sponge is put into a basin of water and pressed, air will escape and bubbles (gas) will be seen coming out of the sponge.

Water level in the basin will decrease as the water occupies the spaces in the sponge.

7) Please be CLEAR when you describe the process of condensation!!!

Is it the cooler INNER / OUTER SURFACE!!!

If it's a car / glass / window / plastic sheet where the dew is formed.....Is it the surrounding air INSIDE or OUTSIDE...

BE SPECIFIC!

8) The surface of the window is at the same temperature as the surroundings, *CONTINUE EXPLAINING...DON'T STOP* so no condensation occurs.

9) There are more turns of coils around steel bar B so it has stronger magnetic force / stronger magnetism.

10) Creates a close circuit so that electricity can flow. The steel bar becomes magnetised and becomes an electromagnet which attracts the iron bar.

11) Having cuts across the fish body increases the EXPOSED surface area for the fish to gain heat faster.

12) Such a behaviour allows the lizard to reduce its surface area of CONTACT with the hot desert sun, *CONTINNUE SCIENCE CONCEPT*...hence, it will gain less heat.

13) When the water in the bucket exceeds the level 'h', more water flows out of the hose at a time.

As the mass of the water flowing out increases, its gravitational potential energy increases to convert to more kinetic energy of the water wheel for it to turn faster.

As the water wheel turns faster, it possesses more kinetic energy  which in turn, is convereted to more electrical energy in the generator. As the electrical energy supplied to the bell increase, it rings faster.

WHAT TO DO FOR TODAY:

1) STOP PRACTICING NEW PAPERS ALREADY.

2) REST YOUR MIND.

3) REVISE WORKSHEETS IN YOUR MATH FILE INSTEAD (Corrections, Cover and re-do):

- Timed Trials
- Topical Tests
- Topical Worksheets
- Worksheets that I PRINTED for you
- Revision SA1 Set 1, 2, 3, 4

YOU SHOULD KNOW IMPORTANT CONCEPTS  BY NOW:

1) CHANGING RATIO Questions

2) TOTAL UNCHANGED Questions

3) DIFFERENCE UNCHANGED Questions

4) Area: Overlapping figures, find Unshaded Area / Shaded Area

5) Converting Fractions to Decimals to Percentage and vice versa

6) How to increase number of 1 object to a certain %, while 2nd object's quantity remains the same but % changes.

7) Identifying the WHOLE in the % question to be put as the Denominator.

~ MATH ANSWERS ~

Figure 1: You can find the volume of water

120 x 6 = 720 cubic-cm

Figure 2: You can find the volume of air

15cm - 7cm = 8cm of air

Volume of air --> 120 x 8 = 960 cubic-cm

Volume of container --> Volume of Water + Volume of Air
                                            720 + 960
                                            = 1680 cubic-cm

1) Draw model

2) Compare model: 9 cheesecakes - 5 cheesecakes = 4 cheesecakes

3) 4 Cheesecakes --> $12.40 + $2 = $14.40

4) 1 Cheesecake --> $3.60

KEY NOTE: BOTH gave EQUAL NUMBER of stamps to Sam.

This means that BEFORE GIVING, Kumar ALREADY HAD 4 TIMES AS MANY stamps as Jamil.

DIFFERENCE between JAMIL & KUMAR before or after giving the stamps to Sam IS THE SAME.

Thus, 4U - 1U = 3U

3U --> 382 - 190 = 192

1U --> 64

190 - 64 = 126

Sam received --> 126 x 2 = 252 Stamps

DRAW MODEL.

AGAIN, EQUAL NUMBER of flowers bought.

Which means, BEFORE BUYING, florist already had 56 MORE LILIES than roses.

Thus, Florist had TWICE AS MANY LILIES AS ROSES because she has 56 MORE LILIES.

Comparing model, 1U --> 56

244 - 56 - 56 -56 = 76

76 divide by 2 = 38

1) Find ratio of Male to Female Workers:   9 : 20

2) REALISE that Male worker no change, thus ratio should still be 9.

3) Thus convert 3 : 4  into 9 : 12 , as MALE RATIO NO CHANGE.

4) Difference of Female:  12U - 4U = 8U

8U --> 72

1U --> 9

Males at first (9U) --> 9 x 9 = 81
